PROJECTS
Manono Tailings
MANONO, DRC
⁓ The project covers 105 million mt over 11 dumps, containing Lithium, Tin and Tantalum.
⁓ 13’000m of air-core drilling has been completed on half of the tailings.
⁓ A Mineral Resource Estimate prepared by MSA Group from South Africa has been released on January 26th, 2023 with the following highlights:
⁓ A Preliminary Economic Assessment prepared by Sedgman Novopro has been released on October 6th2023. (see report below)
Manono Tailings
Treatment Proposal Following the appointment of Mr Holtzhausen to the board in March 2025 the company commissioned a proposal from MinMet Projects for the potential commissioning of a plant to process the 105 million mt of tailings found across licence 13698.
Project Overview
Tantalex is actively exploring funding and/or strategic partnerships for the development and construction of a processing plant with the following preliminary parameters:
- Feed Capacity: 50–60 tonnes per hour (ROM tailings)
- Phase 1 Objective: Recovery of Dense Media Separation (DMS) spodumene concentrate targeting production of 900–1,000 tonnes per month with a grade of >5.5% Li₂O, based on test results indicating a yield of 2.8%–3.2%
- Phase 2 Expansion:
- Recovery of spodumene (Li), tantalite (Ta), and cassiterite (Sn) from fines/slimes (<0.5 mm) and secondary DMS middlings
- Utilization of milling, flotation, and spiral separation technologies
- Potential additional spodumene production increase of 600–800 tonnes/month
Strategic Advantages
- The project remains viable even under lower lithium pricing scenarios, with flexibility to benefit from third-party infrastructure developments currently underway within the broader production zone.
- Initial capital expenditure for Phase 1 is estimated at USD $7 million, inclusive of contingencies.
- The operation is projected to have a Life-of-Mine (LOM) of six years, with expected annual output of approximately 15,000 tonnes of high-grade spodumene concentrate.
Low risk plant operation and tailings reclamation
- Ready to use tailings dump resources to feed beneficiation plant with minimum cost of mining, crushing, grinding, and processing.
